Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is different to a traditional ‘one-size-fits-all’ massage. Its point-of-difference is in manipulating the body’s soft tissues for a specific therapeutic effect on a problem area(s) in your body. Your massage therapist adopts relevant techniques, lubricants and movements according to your body’s specific needs and responses. This technique will kickstart your body’s healing process at the cellular level by aiding the repair of damaged soft tissues surrounding the problem area. A rebate is available for this treatment and can be processed on the day of your treatment.

Deep Tissue Relaxation Massage

Deep tissue massage is designed to reach the deeper sections of thick muscles, and more specifically, the muscle’s individual fibres. Your massage therapist will use deep muscle compression and friction along the grain of the muscle to unstick the fibres of the muscles. This technique releases toxins and deeply held tension points to create a deeply relaxing experience. This is the best massage to physically separate the tension that binds you to your tight muscles.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy massage provides a deeply soothing experience that connects the mind to the body by way of highly concentrated essential oils that are mixed in with your massage lotion. Aromatherapy is known to influence your nervous system and hormones through reaching your limbic system by way of inhalation through the nostrils. The limbic system plays a huge role in controlling the emotions you experience. By inhaling essential oils, you are sending certain messages to your brain to help stabilise your nervous system. This technique can help stress levels, memory, heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, digestion, and the immune system. Calming oils include: chamomile, lavender, geranium. Energising oils include: rosemary and lemongrass. Uplifting oils include: ylang ylang, clary sage, rose, neroli.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is like having a traditional relaxation massage with the addition of heated, flat stones that are placed on specific areas of the body. The heat from the stones will fast-track the process of relaxing the muscles. Once that muscles are relaxed, your massage therapist is able to apply deeper pressure to your muscles. If you are looking to rebalance the energy in your body, just ask  your therapist to place stones on relevant energy points otherwise known as chakras.

Pregnancy Massage

Island Healing’s pregnancy massage is also known as a ‘pre-natal’ massage. As an expectant mother, you can trust that your massage therapist has been trained to position your body to ensure the safety of you and your unborn child. This massage reduces stress, decreases swelling in the legs and arms, and relieves aches and pains in muscle joints. This massage is particularly effective in relieving back pain and tension in the back muscles. Your massage therapist will avoid certain techniques (like deep tissue massage) and areas of the body that should not be massaged during pregnancy. With this information, your iridologist can recommend the best health practices to target your particular health concerns. Iridology is one step forward on the path to increased energy levels and a feeling of vitality to live your life to your full potential.

Ear Candling

Ear candling is an alternative therapy where earwax and other impurities are drawn out of the ear canal by a partial vacuum created by a candle flame. Your practitioner will taper the end of an ear candle and place the tapered end into your ear. Once you are comfortable, he or she will light the candle wick at the other end and carefully monitor the positioning of the candle as it draws impurities from your ear.
